The book project Crossing Borders: A History of Brazil at CERN was conceived at a defining moment for Brazilian and international science. In 2024, CERN celebrates its 70th anniversary, having established itself as the world’s largest particle physics research center, and Brazil officially becomes an Associate Member of the European laboratory, crowning decades of scientific and institutional collaboration. This dual milestone is not merely symbolic: it invites reflection on the unique trajectory of a country from outside the traditional centers of particle physics, which has earned a place and recognition in one of the most complex scientific endeavors of our time.
